Our guide will lead us along an itinerary that highlights the rich heritage of industrial architecture that characterises the city of Prato and extends throughout the provinces. A journey through history, industrial ruins, abandoned but also regenerated and active factories to discover the peculiarities of the area. Our first stop is the former Lanificio Calamai, built to a design by the Florentine studio Poggi e Gaudenzi, which today constitutes a rare example of representative and ‘monumental’ characterisation of a utilitarian building, now housing a student residence on the walls of which is a mural by the writer Dem.

This is followed by La Corte di Via Genova, as well as former Lanificio Umberto Bini, which is now a place dedicated to the production, exhibition and promotion of contemporary culture in the variety of its expressive forms, becoming a true cultural village.

The last stage of the morning is the Museo del Tessuto, where a tour of the museum will be the prelude to a real educational experience, a multi-sensory approach that will bring us closer to the world of textiles, learning about them both as everyday objects and as artefacts that can be equated with works of art. The museum will also be the location to enjoy a brunch at the cafeteria.

We leave the museum and move on to the Luigi Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art, where a guided tour will take place.
