On Call

30 km bike tour– ( we recommend to come Friday to enjoy the village of Santa Fiora – and get ready for the bike tour)
Accommodation: https://santafioraospitalitadiffusa.it/
You will find your bikes and hemlets ready at the reception.
08:00 to 10:00 breakfast service.
Recommended departure time approximately at 9:00.

From Santa Fiora, a pleasant ascent leads to the village, followed by a stretch of flat terrain before reaching the historic chestnut road. Chestnuts hold a significant place in the history of Monte Amiata, and your journey will wind through quaint old homes and charming alleys offering views at the villages such as Arcidosso, Montelaterone, and Montegiovi.
Your first break will be in Castel del Piano, where we recommend exploring the old town or enjoying a cup of coffee, or even tasting in some homemade ice cream in the square adorned by two churches.
Continuing your ride towards Seggiano, for an internal tour to the modern art park of Daniel Spoerri could be a highlight (entrance fee not included; optional). This expansive outdoor museum offers a unique discovery of the area, with artworks scattered across its 15 hectares in a seemingly haphazard yet harmonious manner. Spoerri’s collection, predominantly in bronze, is complemented by the natural beauty of the surroundings, featuring wildflowers, herbs, and chestnut trees.
The journey proceeds downhill towards the castle of Potentino, where the owners are waiting the group for a lunch with the family, tuscan tapas dishes paired with the castle’s wines, water, and coffee. After lunch a visit the castle’s wine cellar, chapel, and the residential halls.
Nestled amidst one of Italy’s best-preserved natural landscapes, on the Potentino valley Montecucco DOCG area, the castle presents a captivating amalgamation of architectural styles spanning from Etruscan and Roman to medieval epochs. Restored with meticulous attention to preserving art, culture, and tradition, the castle dates back to 1042 and stands as a testament to the historical significance of the pilgrimage routes it once protrected.
After lunch and visit of Potentino castle ( charging of the bikes, who need charge) you will pass through the ancient olive trees by bike before reaching Santa Fiora for a dinner at the village.
